Non-Profit Spotlight for this event was the Springfield School Volunteers.
SSV is a non-profit organization dedicated for 38 years to marshalling the resources of
the community to benefit the children, teachers and principals of the Springfield Public
Schools. Their focus is to provide academic support for students in grades k-12 to promote

CEO Luncheon was hosted by Cynthia J. Anzalotti, President, CityStage
& Symphony Hall on Friday, June 6th from Noon-1:30pm. CityStage

The 2,611-seat Symphony
Hall is home to Broadway-style theatre, top-quality children’s programming,
internationally-recognized speakers and numerous concerts and performances. Built in the
early 1900s, the historic building underwent an extensive renovation in the fall of 2004.
Patrons are enjoying refurbished seating, newly painted ceilings, walls and flours, new
acoustical and decorative draperies and improved restroom facilities. At CityStage,
Off-Broadway comedies, dramas and musicals are presented October through April in the
intimate, 487-seat Blake Theatre; the 70-seat Winifred Arms Theatre is host to numerous
community events, performances and meetings.

On
Saturday May 3rd the YPS helped "Keep Springfield Beautiful"
Litter,
graffiti, unkempt streets, roads, blocks and parks are far more than just unsightly; these
are symptoms of uncaring behavior and a wake-up call for citizens who are concerned about
their community's quality of life. Keep
Springfield Beautiful needs your help in answering that call!
On May 3, 2008
from 8:30am-12:00noon, Volunteers met at 8:30am at the Urban League of Springfield
at 765 State Street). During this day we worked with other volunteer groups to help remove
trash from streets, dump sites and remove graffiti from our 17 neighborhoods in the city.
Afterwards the YPS Crew
relaxed at McCaffrey's
Public House, 1171 Main St. in Springfield. McCaffrey's provided food and a cash bar
as we unwound after helping to Keep Springfield Beautiful.

April’s CEO Luncheon with Dr Stephen Mahoney, Principal of The Springfield
Renaissance School
Dr.
Stephen Mahoney, principal of The Renaissance School, shared how his students and faculty
are challenged to take the reins of community leadership and to understand and meet the
demands of the modern workplace. The Springfield Renaissance School is a partnership between
Springfield Public Schools and Expeditionary Learning Schools, and is funded, in part,
by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

CEO Luncheon
with ACCGS / Urban Land Institute (ULI)
Young Professional Society
of Greater Springfield (YPS) held their CEO Luncheon on December 6th,
from 12:00pm - 1:30pm hosted by the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield.
This luncheon featured a presentation by the ACCGS president, Russell F. Denver and a
representative of the City’s Planning and Economic Development Office.

Third Thursday Event
Our November YPS social
gathering was held on November 15th, 2007 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Boston
Billiard Club located at 885 Riverdale Street in West Springfield (directly across
from Showcase Cinemas).
We had a terrific turnout for this event and had the pleasure of raffling off many great
prizes. Boston Billiard Club had provided the food and also several pool tables where
attendees were able to

pool and network in a fun and active environment.

Roundtable
Our last CEO event was held on August 15th with Allan W. Blair, President & CEO of
the Economic Development Council
of Western Massachusetts. Blair has more than 20 years experience in land development
and major economic development projects. He has served as President/CEO of Westover Metropolitan
Development Corp. since 1984, and the EDC since its creation in 1996.

Tavern was the host for our July YPS Third Thursday on July 19th. We had a terrific
turnout for this event! The food and services was top-notch, we had a DJ playing
throughout the event and we honored some of those who have helped the YPS grow over

A
fundraising event for the Susan
G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was held on Saturday, June 30, 2007. Participants
arrived at Wagner and Wagner
BMW Dealership in West Springfield to test drive a BMW and BMW donated $1 for every
mile driven to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Volunteers were
then invited to unwind and compare notes at Max’s Tavern at the Basketball Hall
of Fame afterwards!

Our first "Lunch
with a local CEO" was held on June 26th with Joe Pellegrino of
ComColor at 417 Liberty Street,
Springfield. ComColor handles large format imaging, photographic services and design
for trade shows and other special events.

Our last monthly social gathering
was held at the Springfield Museums in tandem with with their exhibition "Seldom
Seen: Contemporary Art from the Permanent Collection" with paintings, sculpture
and lithographs by 20th-century artists such as Rauschenberg, Motherwell, Picasso,
