Growth, Connection, and Giving Back: Making a Difference Across Western Massachusetts
Let’s get to know Chris…
What you do (for work)?
I run a residential/commercial real estate team, The Hamre Martin Team at Real Broker, and I’m a real estate investor. I am also a partner at Scoops of Agawam and Take Flight Coffee Company. Oh, and in my spare time (insert loud chuckle here), I’m a medical sergeant in the U.S. Army.
Why do you do what you do?
I love real estate as it serves as an essential instrument to fuel other endeavors, as well as help others achieve long term stability and economic growth.
How are you involved with YPS and for how long?
I am a member. Roughly 3-4 years.
Why are you involved with the Young Professional Society?
YPS has introduced me to peers that are invested in bettering the community, which was a huge factor for me when returning back to the area. I've grown strong friendships and relationships with many members over the years as well.
Inquiring Minds Want To Know… tell us more about you?
When I consider this I realize, most everything about me ties back to investing in our community and people.
I’m the President of Suit Up Springfield, which provides free professional attire and formal wear for those in need in our community. We've “suited up” over 4,000 individuals in our 10 years of existence. In 2022 I was proud to receive the honor of a Forty under 40 recognition. I also serve as a Board member for MassHire Springfield and Chanda's House; I’m a Corporator at Square One and the Springfield Museums.
What's one thing that inspires you?
The movie The Founder, for its main character's singular focus and drive, not necessarily his personality!
What advice would you give to a fellow young professional?
Just go for it. Take the leap, fall down, fail, and then get back up and get after it again. Do your research, but not to the point of paralysis by analysis.
Rapid Fire Round – quickly share what comes to mind for these questions:
Your passion? Food and art.
Your recommendation for stress relief? Getting into nature. Walks, hikes, biking, etc.
Something people may not know about you? Learning chess and German in my spare time.
