Meet Kelly Martins with GRATI Consulting

Kelly Martins of GRATI Consulting

This month’s Leadership Luncheon acquaints YPS of Greater Springfield with Kelly Martins of GRATI Consulting, who encourages young professionals to “stop marketing yourself like a resume.”  She’ll share practical insights on building a personal brand that reflects one’s expertise, communicates one’s value and helps one stand out professionally.

Martins’s career has been shaped by a combination of marketing, entrepreneurship and a genuine interest in helping people bring their ideas to life. She spent more than 15 years working in brand development and business strategy, but the basis of her work today is her entrepreneurial journey.

She has started and built three businesses, including a clothing brand that began with a basement-based startup and grew to a retail storefront in Wilbraham. This experience taught Martins what it takes to build something from the ground up. This process made her fall in love with the excitement of starting a project and the challenges of growing it.

GRATI Consulting grew out of just that combination: professional experience and entrepreneurship. She wanted to create something that allowed her to work closely with other business owners, especially those who are mission-driven and purpose-led and help them clearly define and articulate who they are and what they do.

“I saw so many talented entrepreneurs investing in marketing, websites and social media without having a solid foundation underneath it all,” said Martins. “At a glance, they were doing all the right things, but they still struggled to communicate what made them different or why someone should choose them. I wanted to change that.”

Martins was already aware that building a business meant encountering roadblocks. One of the biggest lessons she learned is that being good at something does not mean one knows how to communicate their value. She had to navigate this herself, evolve and let go of the things that did not fit. She had to get comfortable with the fact that business does not always follow the timeline or path she initially envisioned.

Now? She loves the finite moment when her lessons click for a client. When a business owner at last has the language to explain what makes them different and sees their business more clearly or gains the confidence to show up in a way that feels true to them. She enjoys taking what feels scattered or daunting and refining that information into clear, intentional and actionable messaging.

“That’s what draws me to conversations about personal branding,” Martins continued. “Your personal branding isn’t just what you put on LinkedIn or even how you present yourself professionally; it’s the perspective you bring, the impression you leave with people. These are part of your value. I think we often underestimate how much control with have over shaping these things intentionally.”

Leadership Luncheon with Martins will be a constructive session filled with such perspective-changing advice. Eager to learn how to better brand yourself? Register today at SpringfieldYPS.com.
