Happiness is a Lifestyle: It’s an Everyday Commitment
September is a special month to highlight people skills and self-improvement, and for Angel, it carries an even deeper meaning as it is also his birthday month (make sure to wish him a Happy Day on September 18th).
As the founder of The Rally Cry, Angel has dedicated himself to creating spaces where individuals can grow, connect, and thrive. Through his podcast, speaking engagements, and his conversation-starting game Enough Said, he continues to inspire his generation to embrace personal growth, strengthen communication, and unlock their potential.
What do you do for work?
I am currently a Therapeutic Mentor at Lorenzi Health. My role is to give youth and families the resources to live happier, healthier and more healed. I support my clients with meeting them where they are at and implementing resources in their lifestyle. I am grateful to work within the community to bring people closer together to themselves and their families.
As mental health and self-development has been an inspiration, it has also led me to creating my own business as an entrepreneur called "The Rally Cry" a brand devoted to self improvement and building connections through me being a show host and creating events. I also created a communication card game called "Enough Said" which is a card game to help spark meaningful conversations. I have worked with Springfield Public Schools, NNCC, UMASS Amherst, Westfield State and many others.
Throughout my entrepreneurship venture, I have done numerous pitching contests through, EforAll and UMass Executive pitching over at Amherst. I am also a Alumni from UMass Amherst with two bachelors degrees - one in Construction Management and the other in Psychology.
In short, what I do (for work and passion) is to impact our community for optimistic change and support how we can collectively bring more peace and greenlife to the world.
Why do you do what you do?
My mistakes has been my biggest professors, I learned through my experiences and after getting out of a long term relationship I started to take my mental health more seriously with reading, listening and looking for answers to bring me clarity. I do what I do because we are all looking for ways to improve, looking for ways to have better relationships, and doing our best to move with intention. One of my favorite quotes is “With great power comes with great responsibility” yet when you switch the words around “With great responsibility comes with great power. It reminds me that my WHY is knowing that I have the ability to respond to advocating for a life more living. I would rather be someone’s good example then someone’s terrible warning.
How are you involved with YPS and for how long?
I have been involved for approximately six months. I joined the board this year and currently serve as a board member.
Why are you involved with the Young Professional Society?
I believe in the Law of attraction is how I met Kara Bombard (the current YPS President) at a networking event and asked to sit down with her over brunch to share about our goals. One thing that struck me was community, teamwork and resources. I was eventually offered to join and was so grateful because everyone at YPS is making an effort to bring the community together and it gives me a place where I feel supported and were we are all looking in the same direction.
Inquiring Minds Want To Know… tell us more about you?
I am originally from the Bronx, New York. When I was 11 years-old my Grandma moved to Springfield, MA and my Mom chose to stay in the city. I opted to move here with my Grandma and have lived here ever since. Sometimes I wonder who I would have been if I stayed in New York and how my experiences would have molded me different.
My journey was never planned but my intentions were always clear. What I mean by that is I always believed in myself even when I felt like it was impossible sometimes, the power of believing in myself is what allowed me to breakthrough any obstacle that came my way.
What's one thing that inspires you?
I always look for many inspirations but my biggest inspirations are Big Sean and Jay Shetty. I feel as if I didn't listen to Sean's music and then saw him on Jay Shetty's podcast, I probably wouldn't be who I am today. Sometimes I re-listen to certain music of Sean's that is nostalgic to me in order to bring me back to a certain feeling.
What advice would you give to a fellow young professional?
"If you always do what you always did, then you will always get what you always got." That is one of the best advice nuggets I can give because we always want change but we ourselves have to be the change in order for things around us to change. If you need help or support just reach out your hand there will be someone that is willing to support you, just be yourself and have faith because if you don't believe in yourself, why would any one else?
