On Thursday, Nov. 19, the Young Professional Society (YPS) of Greater Springfield will host its fifth annual Friendsgiving at the Glass Room by Elegant Affairs on Main St. in Springfield, Mass., located in the heart of downtown. To learn more about the upcoming event, which will be an evening of laughter, levity and a chance to create bonds within Greater Springfield’s professional network, head to SpringfieldYPS.com.

“We’re really excited about this,” said Brenton Jenkins, an active and appreciated member of the YPS Events Committee who is spearheading this year’s Friendsgiving planning. “There is something to be said for YPS hosting this event for a fifth time. It’s now a tradition, and I’ve been both a privileged guest, a DJ and more. This year my role is more behind the scenes.”

By day and professionally, Jenkins is the owner and founder of Vision Entertainment, a Springfield-based entertainment service that knows how to provide a party with musical entertainment, photo booth experiences and more. He specializes in creating unforgettable, high-end weddings, private parties and corporate events.

You also may know him as his alibi, “DJ Onyx.” Under that name, you’ll find him DJing in New England and beyond for special events, including University of Massachusetts Athletics, at MGM Springfield, at the Backyard Cantina at The Big E and at Hooplandia, the Northeast’s Ultimate 3x3 Basketball Tourney + Festival.

If there’s anyone that knows how to throw a party, it’s Jenkins. He goes beyond curating music or designing lighting; he sees every event as an opportunity to connect people through energy, emotion and experience, and he’s eager to add his special touch to Friendsgiving for you.

“I am passionate about this event, and I’m excited to bring some new flavor to it,” said Jenkins. “When we move in our everyday lives, taking care of our businesses and families and all along the way, we don’t always get to slow down and share a meal, creating bonds beyond a simple networking mixer. This event has a great purpose, and it’s a nice way to celebrate Thanksgiving. It is only right that we continue to this tradition of bringing together the larger community.”

The goal of the events committee was simple: to make the event more intimate. The Glass Room at Elegant Affairs, located right in the heart of downtown Springfield, was suggested by Jenkins because he grew up catering there as a youngster and has grown a fondness for the space as he’s grown.

“YPS events are spread out throughout the county a lot,” he explained, “which is great, but bringing it home in Springfield makes sense for this occasion.”

Dress is casual, and the attitude is “come as you are.” The evening promises a catered meal, a cash bar for cocktails and an interactive experience that is bound to break the ice and create connections between friends and acquaintances new and established. We look forward to welcoming you, and we encourage you to check out our website to register today.
